After a stunning start by Refracted, the second instalment in ara's "UTIL" series—dedicated to unique club music tools and flamboyant functional tracks—is coming from main(void), who explores a circular theme in this expansive sounding and bass-heavy EP.

The "UTIL" series on ara (about recording artists) questions the process involved in releasing a functional dance music record nowadays. Available in digital format and as a limited art edition of the customised tool from the artwork.

UTIL 02 is accompanied by 30 additional tracks, called "Entanglements", added for free as a bonus when you buy the entire release on Bandcamp.

"The idea behind Entanglements is loosely inspired by my unscholarly reading of Karen Barad’s Agential Realism. Barad says that entities are never separate but entangled. Meaning, entities do not pre-exist and interact, but instead are constituted from what she calls "intra-action"—they emerge from and are of the phenomenon rather than being its condition.

The 30 Entanglements are the result of complex relationships and processes that intertwine the original tracks of the EP in inseparable ways. They can be visualized in a circular arrangement, distributed evenly at defined degree marks. Additional, colored circles connect the Entanglements to indicate their relationships, and a Venn diagram originating from within the circle shows the range of Entanglements the respective original tracks feed into." -main(void)
